MODENA AUTOMOBILI UNVEILS THE MA-01 – MASERATI BITURBO SHAMAL THE FULL-SCALE 1:1 MODEL REVEALED AT GARAGE MILLEMILIA IN MODENA
On June 19th, in the heart of Italy’s Motor Valley, the city of Modena hosted the World Premiere of the MA-01 Maserati Biturbo Shamal by Modena Automobili. The exclusive event, which drew collectors, enthusiasts, and key figures from the automotive world, took place at Garage MilleMilia – a symbolic venue and the perfect stage for the bold vision of the young Modenese brand.
During the evening, the full-scale 1:1 model of the MA-01 was finally unveiled, offering a tangible preview of the first real unit currently in production. Among those in attendance was Santiago De Tomaso, son of Alejandro De Tomaso, whose leadership at Maserati originally inspired the iconic project. Guests had the chance to admire up close this contemporary reinterpretation of the legendary 1989 Maserati Biturbo Shamal – a restomod crafted by Modena Automobili under the guidance of CEO Franco Righi, alongside the founding partners, technical committee, and full team.
Following its international preview at Top Marques Monte Carlo – attended by Prince Albert II of Monaco – the MA-01 returned to its birthplace, captivating the audience with its muscular and visionary design. The project was met with tremendous enthusiasm and interest, positioning itself as a new object of desire for enthusiasts, digital investors, and collectors worldwide.
But this is no mere reinterpretation: the MA-01 is a radical restomod that transforms the iconic coupé designed by Marcello Gandini into a car for today and tomorrow. With a lightweight carbon fiber chassis, a 500-hp Twin Turbo V6 engine, and outstanding performance (0–100 km/h in 5.0 seconds, top speed of 290 km/h), the MA-01 is truly one of a kind.
The redesigned aesthetics – from enlarged air intakes and LED lighting embedded in carbon, to the Kamm tail with integrated arc spoiler – drew widespread admiration, as did the interior. A refined balance of Italian craftsmanship and modern technology, it features custom seats, a TFT digital instrument cluster, and a reimagined version of the iconic oval analog clock.
Adding to the exclusivity of the project is the ultra-limited production of just 33 individually numbered units, TUV-approved and entirely handmade in Modena. Each car will be highly customizable and also available for purchase with Bitcoin, further reflecting the brand’s innovative spirit.
With this premiere in Modena, Modena Automobili has made its mission clear: to make the beauty of past icons eternal by boldly projecting them into the modern world. A tribute to the legacy of Italian motoring, and a new chapter written with passion, vision, and deep local roots.
Forever Icons.
